We humans may celebrate the season of love on Valentine’ Day in February, but for tarantulas, love is in the air in October.
Although these gentle giants are essentially blind, the bachelors will travel far and wide searching for a mate.❤️
On their journeys to find love they are in constant danger of being scooped up by predators. But if the stars align, they’ll stumble upon a female’s burrow, knock on the door by strumming on web strands, and hope she answers!
Unfortunately for the males, time with their new paramour may be short-lived. Female tarantulas often eat their mates! Isn’t that romantic!🥰
So, if you see a tarantula walking around the park this time of year, be sure to give him some space! Finding true love is already stressful enough.🕷️
