Registered private industries with DISI exceed 48,000 by end of August

A total of 48,053 private industries have been registered with the Directorate of Industrial Supervision and Inspection so far, according to the Ministry of Industry’s data.
The registered private industries grew to 47,609 in the previous financial year 2023-2024. A total of 444 sectors were officially listed in April-August of the current FY 2024-2025.
Almost 50 per cent of the registered private industries are engaged in the food group. The lists of registered private sectors are classified into 24 business groups: food, tobacco, clothing, wood and finished wood slabs, printing, chemical, rubber and plastic, essential minerals, computer and electronic devices, unclassified machines, beverages, fabric, leather, paper and paper products, charcoal fuel, pharmaceuticals, non-metallic minerals, metal refining equipment, electronics, vehicle and trailer, furniture and machines and equipment repair and installation.
With the private industries growing domestically, the DISI is providing services for small and medium enterprises to get access to technical assistance and funding, explore markets, register the private industrial enterprises in accordance with existing laws and conduct safety inspections of boiler and electrical usage at worksites and environmental impact assessment.
Yangon Region, a commercial hub of Myanmar, is home to private industries with 8,114 registered businesses, followed by Mandalay Region with 6,810 and Ayeyawady Region with 5,713. — KK
