Myanmar delivers 24,000+ tons of fishery products to Thailand in Apr-Aug

Myanmar exported 24,031 tonnes of fishery products worth US$25.63 million between April and August of the current financial year 2024-2025, according to Myeik District’s Fisheries Department in Taninthayi Region.
Myanmar delivers fisheries to Thailand through Mawtaung and Kawthoung-Ranong borders, said U Zaw Min Oo, deputy director of the Fisheries Department.
“Fisheries are supplied from Myeik District to Taninthayi Region. The export volume is estimated at 24,031 tonnes in April-August. More than 20 fisheries are exported to Thailand through Mawtaung, and dried fish meal is sourced from Kawthoung. Kyunsu and Palaw townships are the main suppliers of fisheries. Plans are underway to expand saltwater shrimp breeding projects in those townships,” U Zaw Min Oo said.
Myanmar ships fish, shrimp and other products from Kawthoung, Dawei and Myeik districts to Thailand and also conveys them to other export markets through Yangon Region. — ASH/KK
